Spot the Taiwan cherry!

Over the last month you may have seen some of these signs popping up in the McCleod Bay/Reotahi.

They are a part of our project to give people the gift of ‘weed vision’; helping folks to recognise the weeds that are quietly expanding in their midst before it is too late. Wherever these signs have been, we have worked with the fantastically supportive landowners to get rid of these Taiwan cherry trees.

However, there are still other scattered plants that pose a direct threat to Mt Aubrey/Reotahi and to Manaia. There is also a hotspot at Taurikura/McKenzie Bay that I am desperately keen to tackle. I saw the first pink sapling peaking out of the bush on Taurikura ridge – the first of hundreds if we don’t act.
