Imitation – the sincerest form of flattery!

You know you are on to a good thing when other people start to copy what you are doing! Our community-led Weed Action project is providing inspiration for the Waipu-Mangawhai community to start up a similar project in their neck of the woods.

Last weekend Weed Action coordinator Jo Barr ran a workshop for 20 very keen Waipu-Mangawhai locals.  Everyone enjoyed the fine spring weather and the warm hospitality of hosts Dave & Debbie Brown, and went away armed with knowledge and an enthusiasm. The workshop focused on both practical demonstrations of control methods, and the key ideas and tactics needed to help plan where to start, what to prioritise,  and the necessary follow up.

It is so exciting to see the approach of tackling weeds as a community reaching out beyond the Heads! The weeds of Waipu and Mangawhai have no idea what’s coming!
