About Weed Action

The Weed Action Native Habitat Restoration Trust is a community whose goal is to stop the spread of invasive weeds. Day by day, these weeds are degrading, replacing, and spreading into the unique natural environment that we all value. We know that to be really successful, this has to be driven by the people who live and love it here.

We aim to make the fight against Weeds easy:

  • We want every resident to have “Weed Vision” to recognise the growing invasive weed threats the Heads faces.
  • We provide the advice, tools, equipment, and herbicide so that people can take action! Killing weeds can be easy if you know how and have the right stuff!
  • We support landowners and community groups in accessing volunteers, resources and funding to tackle the bigger problems on their properties and community reserves.
  • We want to see control happening from the smallest backyard to the slopes of Bream Head and Manaia.

Our peninsula geography and environmentally conscious community means we are already ahead of the game. Because of this, we CAN make a huge difference and successfully protect the beauty and ecological value of what we have on our doorstep. All it takes is awareness and action.
